This works extremely well for african cichlid tanks because these tanks usually do not have plants in them that would otherwise require bright lighting

Finally and just to nitpick this fixture would be an absolute highvalue low cost bargain if it came with a timesetting feature

I would not recommend this fixture for a freshwater planted aquarium because this fixture was not designed with plant growth in mind and does not emit light bright enough to do so

You have to manually change the settings but the good news is if you set it on a timer it turns on and off at the same last settings
