Because one of our chefs knives is very large it does stick up just a little but because this is a shallow drawer as seen in the picture

It doesnt hold as many as it advertises but almostdepending on the sizes of your knives

This knife tray will keep knives separated but it does not necessarily keep the tips hidden

If the knife had a pronounced hilt thick and wide the knife would not set properly

My large boning knives which tend to have pronounced hilts dont work in this tray at all
