Im using this to get digital audio out of a raspberry pi and into an smsl su1 dac and for that purpose its exactly what i needed

After receiving this product i plugged it in a usb on the back of my pc and connected the fiber cable to it

Windows volume control will no longer work they say it in the listing too but you can work around this with voicemeeter pretty decently

I keep capitalizing two because the default windows driver does not allow you to set dolby digital live or just dolby surround it wont encode a 5

Im guessing theres probably hopefully some way to do it with alternate drivers or software or maybe the dolby app in windows store but if you dont want to mess around and i wouldnt if i was plugging this into a surround system then i would look elsewhere

Youll probably need a usb soundcard with dolby digital branding to do it
