Daniel suarez's critical mass is the second book in the delta-v science fiction techno-thriller series. It is delightfully science-y to the extent that i'd almost categorize it as eng-fi or something.

Daniel suarez takes our current technology and situation and extrapolates a clear vision for our near future. Suarez is a visionary, on par with greats like niven and neal stephenson.
