First of ryan holiday's book series on the cardinal virtues of courage, temperance, wisdom, and justice. Every book he writes resonates with a wisdom far beyond his years. This first installment of the stoic virtues series really blow my mind.

The way ryan shares the timeless lessons from stoicism feels practical and appropriate. Holiday opens up and writes about what happened, his role, and his regrets. Ryan holiday writes in a way that draws you in. Thank you ryan.

Reads like it was slapped together by a high-schooler. It slows down the pacing, which is arguably the best part of the book, for what feels like an absolutly empty comparison. The same tired cliche's of rosa parks and martin luther king.

It's ironic that a book entitled courage is calling takes such a mundane approach to its subject matter. It feels like he didn't do his due diligence and research. He misquotes authors on purpose, he misleads readers who haven't read those authors.

Holiday is severally myopic in his thinking. The author carefully omits mentioning that roosevelt never repeated the invitation. The anecdotes are the best part of holidays writing, so him skimping on them turned this into nothing more than a shallow ...  Read More
