It works extremely well on anything with the same contour curve as the blade

The only issue i have with this tool is that the grain orientation of the hickory handle was at 90 degrees to the cutting edge which is the worst possible grain orientation for a tool of this type

Council tool makes thin axe handles with minimal work required to fit the eye socket of their axes but good luck trying to find an online supplier that will hand pick one with straight grain and no runout for you
