The copper foil tape has no impact on slugs at all. Doesn't stop slugs or snails. If you are looking for a smart way t deter slugs, this is definitely not for you.

I have seen for myself a snail trying to tie itself in knots trying to get away from the copper tape

If i had thought more during the construction of the bed i would have sanded down the top of the boards to make a smoother surface for the tape to hold

I planted up some hostas at the weekend and although i drowned them in slug pellets and they did their job a couple of dead slugs in each pot the next day
