Just make sure that you have decent paper to work with because they will bleed and not produce as high quality of a picture if you are not using them on paper made for markers like these

Unfortunately if you want to do professional quality artwork then markers like copic markers or prismacolor markers are really the only alternatives i know about

With markers it is difficult to mix colors so an 8 marker set is not going to provide a wide enough range of colors to work with for anything but basic cartoon drawing
