This was the second rubik's cube book i'd bought as a teenager, but the first one that actually made sense
The author wrote the book when he was about 15 or so, and was (in the early 80s) a rubik's cube champion who could consistently solve in the 20-30-second range (which is actually poor by 2014 standards, due to the way the algorithms have continued to improve over the past 30 years, but was still incredibly impressive back then)
For certain portions of the solving process, he offers a basic way to do it (using more rote moves and less memorization) and an expert way of doing it (using less moves but requiring more pattern memorization)
My best time using his method is 75 seconds, and when i'm in practice i can consistently solve in the 90-100-second range
