There are books that surpass what you expected. I haughtily recommend this book for what it is. The book is quite attractively done.
This book is a fairly complete guide on all things photography. I refer to this book frequently when i pull out my big girl camera - it takes the scary past away when switching to manual settings.

If you are a beginner photographer, this book is for you. The history of photography and the vignette on different pro photographers. More seasoned photographers can use it as refresher material.

The quality of the paper is also excellent and it is sturdy

The least helpful was the postprocessing section since i am familiar with the various software typically used

Except for those who label themselves as true professionals i suppose most people are continuing to learn about this hobby as they continue to hone their skills
