I also have the large tassel maker from the same company and the principle of operation is pretty much the same

I find the instructions on the package to be pretty good so i wont rehash them here

You would probably be able to get by making a tassel with a skein of embroidery floss for example but you might not have much left especially with the largest tassel size you can make from this tool
