This poly-carbonate chair mat is the way to go. The surface is beautiful and it looks very durable. The mat feels very sturdy & is a good thickness.

This appears to be sturdy and heavy-duty, and hopefully will last for a long time. Hope it has a long usage life.

Pathetic chair mat. Bottomline is that it needs to be thicker or made of a different material.
