Your camera screws into the base of the case so in order to use your camera you have to unsnap at least one of the snaps on the bottom and then unfold the cover flap of whichever snap you undid
The cover then hangs down still attached by the other snap and you can undo both snaps and take the cover completely off if it annoys you
