Pros
Product is great for hotels with weak or no wireless. Makes it much more convenient to set this up in a hotel room and not have to be wired to anything. Even with my old laptop which was quite the opposite i would have found this very convenient.
The linksys wtr54gs wifi travel router comes with 5' of flat 100mbps cable. It sets up just like any other linksys router. Simply plug in the ethernet cable and plug it into the wall.
Cons
Linksys offers a 1 year's guarantee on this product. I like the retractable plug but the router signal strength is horrible. This product is suppose to allow sharing of a wireless internet connection with wired and wireless pcs.
This product is ill-conceived, supplies unneeded functionality. Granted, they are told to follow the script and will not deviate one iota from it.
If i had it connected for more than 24 hours - it looses connection to the outer world (without even noticing, the status is ok), and can only recover by powering it off and back on.

Overall i have been extremely satisfied with the product but being a techno person i have a big advantage over a lot of people

But most hotels that charge for wireless access dont encrypt the stream they just force you to pay on a signup screen

I purchased this product a few months ago with the explicit intent of being able to have wireless access when in a hotel with only a hardwired connection and have wpa2 security and an spi firewall to better protect my system

This is not a product just anyone can pull of out of the box and expect it to work immediately

One final note although it is a great feature that you can save the settings once you have configured it i want to advise that the file does include the security key mac addresses everything you set that one would need to then access your wireless router

That being said you definitely want to use a unique key dont use your password or other type of personal information
