Pros

I place it on a rubberized hot-pad/trivet so it remains stable and doesn't scratch the counter top. The mortar is quite heavy, and you may need a mat to protect your countertop.

The pestle is heavy enough and shaped in a way that makes it effortless to use.

It does a great job with the slushy garlic-based mixes. For a rendang, you don't even have to peel the ginger, garlic or turmeric.

The outside is polished or has an epoxy coating. The pestle is also polished. The granite material gives it an earthy feel.

This is a grinder not for the faint hearted. It really grinds, and feels good in the hand while it does so.

Cons

Inside surface looks like someone forgot to finish the inside to a manageable grit. Large chunks missing out of mortar and out of pestle (both pieces) returned it for another. Clearly not the same item pictured on listing or packaging.
