The sharpness of the blade is the most important part of the knife. They are sharp enough to require your attention while slicing through. Each knife blade had imprinted on it its intended use (such as paring, steak, bread, etc).

Wooden handles are comfortable to grip while cutting. Feels very fit and secure in my hands, allows better control and precision. My old set are solid stainless steel including the handle.

The butcher block is nice and goes with most decors. There should be a magnet or something with a little resistance to keep the two blocks together.

The knives look amazing. The craftsmanship on these knives and the block is outstanding. I doubt it occurred in shipping, as the packaging showed no damage.

Using the chicago cutlery knives in a dishwasher can have a corrosive effect on the blades and may cause staining and rusting. It is apparent the quality control is non-existent.
