Pros

Chessmaster 9000 is the most enjoyable chess game i have ever played. It plays its multiplayer over ubi.

The solo gameplay is also outstanding. It also happens to be the strength of this game, in my humble opinion.

You get to play with players of your own age (if you were 8 or 10 years old) and the layout becomes a lot simpler. At first i thought the pictures and bios of the opponents were a little silly, but somehow it makes it more fun to have names and images... Read More

Chessmaster is the premier computer chess player for a pc. This is an excellent chess program that will be challenging and instructive for just about all levels from beginners to at least 1500.

Cons

Cdrw chess program is not compatible with some computers. Even though it touts itself as running on xp, there are severe problems with it in that environment.

There's a flourishing blackmarket on the net of cracks to remove this feature. They are two very serious problems with this program that they seem intent on never fixing. A very, very frustrating and sad christmas day for an old man.

With the program the database and the learning tools all for 30 you cant go wrong

The bottom line in my opinion a terrific chess program that is definitely worth the 29

If you had to pay for a chess lecture that good you would easily pay much more money

Also the price is quite nice for such a complete program

I was waiting for the longest time for ubisoft to make chessmaster compatible with xp

Also the skill level has increased to being on par with the world champions appx
