I used it to mount a tv on my patio with the down rod going through a small hole in the ceiling

Overall this was better than expected and the price was well worth the money 45 better than hundreds of dollars for other mounts

Attached the mounting plate to a 2x10 in the attic and through the patio ceiling
Its holding my 80lb tv and i feel comfortable that it would hold more weight
Even came with a 15ft hdmi and some velcro ties to boot
The mounting plate is bolted to a 2x6 which is attached to the ceiling joists

If youre going drill a hole through your ceiling for the down rod like i did the outer diameter of the outer tube is 1

There is a tiny gap between the two telescoping tubes of the down rod
