A bit of surface rust isn't enough to lower the rating for me. A little wdd-40 or penetrating oil also helps. This is good for added protection against warping. The coating definitely seems to be helping.

Cons

Honda civic ex brake rotors lasted exactly two years. By october 2015 rotors were worthless and had a pronounced shake. On the plus side, the rotors are quiet.
