Pros & Cons

The dampening makes deep space objects especially clear, and lunar photography extremely sharp. Definitely reduces vibrations at the eyepiece. Overall, this is a relatively inexpensive telescope accessory that will bring you heightened viewing pleasur... Read More
These do an outstanding job of dampening movement. The pads are also rugged. I am not one to write reviews on damper pads, but these actually cleaned up alot of the slight shakes i was having.
The tripod weighs almost as much as the entire stock 8se setup. I have a scope mounted on an equatorial mount that is a bit overloaded. My setup also adds additional weight to the telescope from the tripod spreader plate.
Cons
Squirrels and mice love to chew on it and anything above. There's a reason they don't disclose what they're made of. There are a number of brand-name competitors selling the same product for half as much.
Highlights
Quality
Overall very happy with the purchase but they are a little pricey
And will use when i get my scope out for viewing as well—solid product
Dont wast the time with the knockoff brands
Price
The only reason that i gave these pads less than 5 stars is the cost
Competitiveness
I purchased this item for my celestron nexstar 8se and i have been using it ever since
Similar products under a noncelestron name could be purchased for a much cheaper price

To first start out mine were a little sticky on the orange part but wasnt sure if this is due to age or material breaking down but after ordering a secondary set from celestron directly i had the same issue and many of my friends with telescopes said the same thing

The orange stuff which dampens vibrations is sticky and attracts dirt but its easily washed off

Without the pads it was difficult to use the scope as a light touch caused vibrations that made even focusing difficult
