Quality

I was quite honestly very impressed with the goto accuracy over such large swathes of sky and with minimal setup.

Positive Review

With the nexstar se mount, i could get 8-12 sec subs before i could start to see star trails in my images.

Negative Review

I have been pleased with the quality of the images someone new like me can achieve.

Neutral Review

No, you're not spending 5,000 - 10,000 for a mount, so don't expect the quality of one costing that much.

Neutral Review

Price

For the price of just under $1000, it is not cheap, but it is so much better in every way over the alt az mount that the price ...  Read More

Positive Review

Plus the price is very good now.

Positive Review

All in all, a good mount, great if you need portability or cost is an issue.

Neutral Review

Shipping

One of their first suggestions was to return it (but do i have to pay for the shipping cost and re-package everything?

Negative Review

I purchased it from a retailer that provided free shipping to my door.

Neutral Review

Packaging/appearance

M57 was still on the chip, so i centered it more finely.

Positive Review

So i turned off autoguiding and once more used the goto functionality to bring m57 onto the chip.

Neutral Review

Competitiveness

I use a large zeikos camera bag (about 21 x 11 x 11) to carry the mount itself, together with the hand control and some accessories.

Positive Review

For visual use, since the demands are less this mount would be rated 5-stars.

Positive Review

Using an 110mm f7 apo refractor and my camera and guider taxes this mount a little.

Neutral Review

Using a celestron c8, phd2 had to make very minor guide corrections.

Prior to starting an observing session, i’d get out my wil tirion sky atlas 2000 and turn the page of the chart to be used back over the light box, use a compass to draw circles matching both my finder and my eyepiece fov and then trace the star patterns inside each circle, all to match the mirror-image of what i would see in the fov.

My first night out with it, i levelled the tripod and roughly got it facing north, then used two stars to align and one add’l calibration star.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I was aligned, every object centered in the eyepiece and if i wanted object info, i simply pressed the object info button on the hand control.

The only issue i had was that celestron had over-tightened the declination axis, to the point that it would not move in declination at first.

I've been quite aware of the issues with the avx, mainly the bootloader error messages that occur when using the celestron firmware manager.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I had these issues about 1 1/2 years ago and the celestron techs couldn't advise me how to get the cfm to discover my telescope device nor upload any firmware upgrade packages.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

So i had to send the hand controller to be reflashed which took about 3-4 weeks thanks to ups ground.

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The firmware upgrade packages loaded properly into the cfm but i couldn't get them past the locked out hand controller which now showed the bootloader 0040 serial error message.
