Make note that i am talking about a conventional oven here i think i read one of the reviews about using it in a microwave oven because it is stainless and stainless is a nonferrous metal so it will not arc

The cable going through the door will compromise the seal and microwaves just love to get outside the cooking area and then will play havoc with your doorseal and it is just not safe

I have the high and low temps preset so i can just stick the thermometer in press the button for the high temp alert

When it beeps i just take the milk off the heat and press the same button and it beeps when it has cooled to the right temp

The only disappointment was that the metal clip to attach it firmly to the pot didnt actually fit on the thermometer so i cant use it

With a regular bulb type thermometer one tends to read at an angle thus getting a false or inaccurate reading
