I had to cut the plastic guide clips on the male side so it would connect to the dock.

I set the source drive to master.

I disconnected the usb (per instructions) and tried to copy the master source drive to the target drive.

It started fine but after around 20 min it failed with a auto duplication failure.

I have always to try cloning/copying a hard drive, but only have usb 2.

If the first drive is smaller than the second drive, windows will think the larger drive is only the size of the first drive with all of the extra storage space being unallocated.
