Pros

I always buy cateye lights and this one hasn't disappointed. Makes a good pocket torch too. Pair it with the same brand’s rear red lights.

It fixes to the cycle handlebar with a hose clip type of arrangement in a tough plastic. The bike mounting is sturdy.

Great value and great light. Nothing to complain about. Even cheaper than my old one too. Even compared to those that are pricier.

Lumens is more than enough for me to ride on unlit country lanes. Still perfectly usable, can see road and encroaching trees. I use a 400 and 500 in tandem on my mtb for forest riding in pitch black conditions.

Cons

The light distribution is not at all clean with masked rectangular lightspill all around the central beam. The beam is also quite weak. A fast flickering light is very irritating for the other road users.

Most egregious issue is that there is absolutely no warning of the light dying. When the light is plugged in to charge, the button goes a deep and unmistakable red. On full power (800 lumens), the ampp800 is rated to last for 1h30.
