John bradshaw delves into the history of felines deeper than anybody! Bradshaw thinks the phoenician, who also liked cats, may have introduced them to britain.
The first few dozen pages recount the history of cats, particularly in egypt. The distribution of orange tabby mutations in europe reflects the viking invaders of a thousand years ago.

Author argues that cats should neither be neutered nor kept indoors. He says that neutering cats sounds ludicrous, as do keeping them indoors. In an ideal world every owner would spay and neuter, however, i know better.
The style of this book presents the material in a frustratingly foggy manner. Bradshaw combines the worst flaws of an academic approach (the book is dull) with the worst of hallmark (rampant anthropomorphism) terrible book.

I also had to google a phylogenetic tree of the worlds wildcats to try and make sense of the information in the first few chapters

Hes british and most of the anecdotes and cats in the book are also british so the twonations separated by one language thing may account for it
