Felix hoenikker appears to represent science itself possibly wellmeaning but ultimately destructive and furthermore disconnected from the real meaningful needs of humanity as he cannot and does not relate to his children

The only attempt to relate to his midget son all hoenikker’s children are remarkably abnormal in some way and seem not to share any of his qualities is making a cat’s cradle which ends up being a failed attempt to relate or to amuse as after all cat’s cradle has no element of a cat or a cradle but is a confusing mess that attempts to be something but is not a game that purports to be something for which it is not

Bokononism like science has a different figurehead and that is of bokonon himself a very unassuming man who writes endlessly on any topic but with the overall subscript that anything in the books of bokonon are lies
