Castlevania portrait of ruin is a class act all the way

So in the end unless you have infinite mana to burn you might prefer solo to dual play

In portrait of ruin you play as both jonathan morris son of john morris from the genesis castlevania game bloodlines and charlotte aulin to stop the resurrection of count dracula after the legendary castlevania appears after wwi

Konami tried to mix it up this time by having players use both characters to solve puzzles and defeat enemies

It works to a certain degree but honestly its not utilized all that much

For example theres a section where you have to switch between the two to get past a motorcycle section as you have to make them duck to miss walls or jump to get over obstacles

Another thing i have a small gripe with is that this game is suppose to follow the sega genesis game castlevania bloodlines but outside of a few of the characters cant go into too much without spoiling the game theres not a lot of shout outs to that game

I have always enjoyed castlevania games but noone will argue that the quality of the 816bit era games was a far cry short of the revolution that happened with symphony of the night and the handhelds from circle of the moon onward
