I expected something akin to some of howards other books and i was greatly surprised and pleased
Ill just say its intelligent and has physical mental and ontological horror and a modest amount of high quality snark
Howard has a lot of fun with the language here
It’s not the best of books in any of these classes but the combination works for me
Competitiveness
The story was true to lovecraftiana while deftly sticking a thumb in the eye of lovecrafts racism
This book wildly exceeds lovecrafts own literary ability

Instead theyll find a wonderfully crafted world rich with both detail and incident and welldefined characters who are far too busy protecting the world from ancient evil to trade quips
