The controller allows you to scroll through the menu by pressing the button quickly and holding down the button enables accessing settings

It works very well as described however the one push function button cable isn’t long enough to reach the front dash only about 10 ft

I installed the camera in my tailgate and used the function button cable to set it up the lines and image angle as needed and then i unplugged it from the camera to finish the install

So unless you really feel like wanting to change the view settings after you install it the button isn’t necessary after initial setup
