It works exactly like the factory carplay you find in modern cars. It adds an extra layer of convenience and safety, making every journey a breeze. Purchased an older car to have as a dog transport kid hauler.
Bluetooth wireless is the way to go. This connects with bluetooth as well. Did have trouble hooking up my backup camera to the av in jack. With a usb to lightning cable, it works perfectly.
It's like having a miniaturized tablet right on my dashboard. I'm unbothered by the thickness of the device. The windshield mount is sturdy and adjustable, ensuring that the intellidash pro stays securely in place.
I still connect my phone to bluetooth with the car and the phone calls come in through the factory system so i use the factory microphone and the steering wheel * to answer or end calls.
Cons

It's pretty clear someone at car and driver just had the publication's logo slapped onto this device's splash screen and packaging and called it a day. Also, no way to update firmware.
The mount is cheap and very wobbly. The display is mediocre at best and the animations are choppy. Do not buy from this seller.
At 70 mph it is not safe to fuss with device but i needed directions. I suspect that i will return the item since it may, indeed, be a defective unit.

The one thing i’d say though is to stay away from using the usbc to usb adapter they provide if you’re using a usbc to lightning cable for an iphone because the connection is really shaky
