The 15-85mm f/2. Is a great lens for the eos 7d. Autofocus is very fast and silent. You can manually focus the lense while in af mode. It is very sharp and has a very lowftm noise.
The build quality feels great, very solid. I enjoy using this as my walk around lens when shooting city pics. The manual focus and zoom rings have adequate grip along with grooves, which makes using them convenient.
Extremely useful, wide-angle to mid telephoto focal range. For 99% of low light shots made handheld, a good is and short focal length (ie 15mm! Works. It is very versatile and take good shots up close (85mm) and far away (15mm).
Cons
Is overpriced. It has a limited focal length range and does not include a lens hood. This lens has overwhelmingly strong reviews, which i don't understand.
Even more disturbing was the massive vignetting and barrel distortion. Vignetting is correctable in lightroom 3, but auto-removal is sketchy. The barrel distortion can also be fixed but at the loss of overall resolution.

Highly recommend although a little on the pricey side
Only if they canon can fix this issue include a hood for that expensive price i will love it even more
Back then this lens cost a lot more than today
I have been looking at the 1585 for quite awhile but just couldnt justify the price of a new one im not a pro shooter just a hobbyist

Packaging/appearance
It came packed nicely looks good quiet super fast focusing and so far the photos ive taken with it have been great
Ive shot a lot of weddings with it and ive always found the bokeh on portraits to be really nice when zoomed to 85

6 camera like rebel or 70d it does perform very good comparing to others as a travel allpurpose lense

I have not used any of the more expensive uwa lenses so i cannot compare to those only to what came with my canon rebel
The price seemed seemingly high at the time but compared to the efs 10 22 quality build at about the same price the 1855 smokes it

It is relatively heavy for its size which does give the feeling of quality and robustness but for me is a negative aspect as i primarily use it while hiking backpacking etc
