Its unstable even without all of the accessories so im not sure if this is an issue for all hcv 770s or just the one i purchased

I then put the metal washer on top of the nylon washer and finally the rubber washer on top such that it would be against the base of the camera image 2

It does have the same gap but i dont think the washer trick will be necessary to stabilize the camera

In sum any instability was likely due to the panasonic camcorder thread not the handle itself
