Even if you scratched off the black coating you wont lose those elementslike i said its permanantly bonded in the steel by going this route

I didnt catch on to it because i never saw glare from the blade from a typically scratched paintits like a flatter shade of black underneath

The only way you could damage a clip like this is leaving it clipped on something abnormally thick for an extended length of time that would be wedging the clip and not allowing the tension to rest on the fabric
