There is a led next to the headphone jack that indicates the samplerate setting of the dm blue for 44

A useful feature of the dacmagic i overlooked is that you get an increase number of volume steps compared to using the macs volume control resulting in finer gradations of volume settings

But when using the dacmagic with its own builtin volume control the macs volume is automatically sets to max when the dm is inserted into the macs usb the max setting is for me is 17 on the dms volume setting

I didnt check what the dms max setting was but at 30 it was painful loud
