Its a very easy product to use providing youre on a mac the pc installation is a nightmare the steps are all outdated after many hours of swearing i looked on the app store and found an app that solved everything i wish that direction was in the box wouldve solved hours of frustrating ip related jargon and pointless exercises

You can assign a static ip address unlike the wd mycloud which i bought then found out it was dhcp only

Type in the ip address assigned to it by your router in your browser and there you are at the user screen where you can set it up

Works perfectly as a nas for sonos which it what i use it for the only problem i encountered was when i tried to move a folder containing 250 music albums i got the old error code 50 problem easily fixed make sure ftp is enabled for your share folder and move blocks of 20 30 files at a time

There are a number of reviews that say that this is difficult to set up or connect to i had no problems setting it up or connecting to it with either my pc ipad or smart phone
