As others have mentioned each pair of the socks are held together with two metal clips

On the other hand i did snag one pair when i didnt remove the clip carefully enough so watch out for that

One pair of shoes we have has some pretty unforgiving velcro and the velcro has snagged some fuzz on the sock but again im more tempted to blame the shoe than the sock
