Pros & Cons
Pros
The cuisipro ricer is great for ground beef grease extraction. It also works well for mashing cauliflower or broccoli for making cream soups. It is long, so it does take up kitchen space.
It's as easy and foolproof as advertised. The drawbacks only amount to minor inconveniences. The only drawback is the price.
The potato ricer allows you to make mashed potatoes with no peeling. The potatoes come out light and airy without breaking down the structure the way conventional mashers can.
Received this as a christmas 2013 gift. Nice heft to the ricer. What a wonderful device. This ricer is fantastic.
This potato ricer is the answer to smooth and silky mashed potatoes, and i love it! I love that it comes with different sized holes, so i can chose if i want to have fluffy mashed potatoes or a bit chunkier style.
Highlights
Quality
Very well madewill last me a long time
I am very pleased with the quality of this product and am very happy that i can now make spaetzle
Had one for years and years which was made of hard plastic last time he went to use it it snapped in two
I believe that the tool could easily stand over 35 pounds of force at the ends of handles before it would yield and permanently bend
Price
Although pricey with this item it is very easy to make homemade mashed potatoes
The cheaper one was softer metal like a toy and very cheap looking pins
I paid too much for it but noticed that is now on sale for under 25
I bought in july 5 2009 for 40
Shipping
Amazon shipping was fast and cuispro quality is great
My daughter was not told it was out of stock when she ordered it mid november
Cuisipro is a very good manufacturer and im sure amazon just got a bad shipment of ricers
Packaging/appearance
Im about to order a couple of these as christmas presents for friends who are serious cooks who seriously envy my potato ricer
Competitiveness
It is important to note that i tried several other potato ricers but this is the only one strong enough to handle ice cream
Id purchased one of the 34grater34 type makers in the past and it just didnt do the job
I cant vouch for any other brand of ricer
This is first ricer that i have ever used so i do not have any experience to make comparisons to other similar products
