Pros & Cons

Pros

The needle threader is the best i have used. The knee lift is a must for me, and auto thread cutter. It has luxury features like thread cutters, knee lifter, and that great brother/babylock needle threading.

It is easier to use than i imagined. The instruction manual was well written, a rarity to find these days. Of course that model is no longer available but undeterred, she did some research and found the follow on model with even more features.

It's easy to figure out and sews very smoothly. I am a novice, but a woman i know who sews professionally talked me into spending a bit more than the $200. It has worked flawlessly for me.

Stitches are perfect. Have started testing some of the stitches and just love the results, the quietness and ease of operation. The stitch cards are plastic coated and durable. When using decrative stitches or alphabet, stabilizer should be used.

For the price this little machine packs a lot of punch. I own a janome horizon 7700 and a juki 2000 and the brothers holds its own. The nearest dealer is a 3 hour trip with a $100 minimum to look at it.

Cons

While this machine may be for the serious, diehard sewing enthusiast, it is not for 90% of the sewing population. If you don't have an authorized brother dealership or service near you, brother requires you to pay to ship the machine off for repairs.

Using this machine has not been an enjoyable experience. I really don't want the machine, it obviously is too fussy.
