I dont smell a hint of it now so it may have been the packaging
It does smell right out of the box but it isnt overwhelming and goes away completely in 7 or so days

I must report that when i originally received the pillow it had an awful odor

I washed the cover that they included with the pillow and after it was washed i sprayed it with febreze and inserted the pillow with the cover it came with into a regular pillow case and only then was the smell disguised

My head never feels too warm on this pillow so the ventilation must be working
