The fabric is definitely burlap-like but i love it. The zippers are surprisingly sturdy. Soft, looks like wool but not rough and itchy.

We are a non religious house hold so we could only use 3 of the 4 pillow cases in this set and had to buy two sets to cover all of our pillows
