I am happy with the 2 light settings and the clip is perfect since it can also balance on its own
Not really great if studying with the lamp else where when its not plugged up
I got the one with the clamp on the bottom and sometimes use that to hold an oldfashioned book like crossword or sudoku open

I unplug it and move it to look at some piece of computer equipment which is giving me a problem or use it to look at a piece of paper in the dark

And thought it works plugged in to either my laptop or a wall outlet it also will run on its own battery i do not know how long since this is not how i use it
