It turns freely but not so loose that it wont stay put once rotated to the angle i want

I have learned to rotate it in the same direction otherwise it tends to unscrew from the camera and i did not want to overtighten it

Made in chinathe optics seem dark when you look at them but it is not noticeable when you actually take photos through the camera

The closeup lens kit produces ok photos but the photos must be cropped as there is distortion at the edges

Thats ok using a 12 megapixel dslr camera because there is plenty of detail still left when the distorted part of the photo is removed using photoshop or an equivalent program

That means you need a lot of light to reach the camera sensor

If you close your aperture to increase the depthoffield that causes the shutter speed to increase leading to shaky pictures
