We use the huge costco sized soap and it holds the weight without an issue and 2 since the base holds the scooper away from the wall the dripping bath water goes right back into the tub without leaving a trail of soap scum and streaks

I followed the directions to a t and it stayed up for several months not sure exactly how long and then it came crashing down
