Kathy reichs' prime-time heroine is now featured in another book, written this time by max allen collins. Max allan collins knows chicago gangland history of the capone era like no other novelist. The book exposes organized crime in a new light.

Collins is true to the characters and feel of the tv show, plus reichs' own writings. I certainly hope that collins will be penning more novels in this series. Collins fleshes out the characters (no pun intended) in a way tv cannot.

Cons

Collins' bones' venture costs the same, but should sell for half that. While some superficial attempt is made to do this, it's lacking and illogical! As is often the case the imitation is no where near as good as the original.

The characters aren't well developed at all, and the dialog is less than intriguing. Most of the supporting characters on the show (the squints) only get a few moments page time on phone calls with brennan.
