Preston and childs novels have always been well written and a great read. This one gets personal, as a body is dumped on pendergast’s doorstep. Still, it is a prendergast novel, so it's an interesting read.

Blue labyrinth, another preston/child combined effort, is definitely amongst the cream of the crop. As s. The main character in the pendergast series is awesome, i do hope they continue this series.

I confess i only got halfway through this one before i put it down in disgust. I know i used to look forward to a new pendergast novel, but the bloom has worn off.

A series is senile when it's fixated on exploiting the sensibilities of a cult figure. Constance is not mysterious. Al is a humorless, overbearing, supercilious, upper-class snob.

Pendergast is long-winded, stilted, and what is worse, boring. The excessive use of pretentious descriptive language is also tired.
