There is a shelf that attaches to the edge of the board but its kind of a cheesy flimsy plastic that she decided was pretty much useless and didnt use

This is a nice size large board and plenty of room for her to write all the things she likes to keep track of as well as treat us to her weekly art work which we get to leave anonymous reviews of

The board has a sturdy and nicely rounded aluminum frame which the pen tray snaps onto on either side and on any edge
