The spring on the hinge is strong and opens the lid super fast by itself i do find myself gently hold the lid when popping the button and helping the lid to ease open a little more slowly as when it springs open so fast its such an abrupt movement that its like an assault on my senses like an old fashioned loud bell ringing alarm clock suddenly going off makes me feel ok

Only negative is that the lid sometimes gets stuck with some coaxing it comes undone again
