The red light has two settings, one being the flashing red light. It has multiple levels of brightness and does a great job for me when hiking in the dark. My only complaint is that the button for the red light is a bit hard to switch.
Bought these initially for hunting. Would buy again. Plan to purchase another 1 or 2 of these v800 headlamps.
Cons
The red light does not work and the on off * are very difficult to use. The * are too easy to press and the lamp turns on in your backpack. I am very disappointed in this purchase.

I ordered this headlamp for astronomy purposes because it had 2 red lights on the side of the middle white light and there was a separate button to turn them on

However on medium or low setting there is an audible highpitched noise that is quite irritating

Only reason i gave four stars is because the red light mode is very focused almost like a spotlight as opposed to a even red glow in front of you

I had to buy a new one to replace as the batteries blew up on the way to denmark international scout jamboree in the battery compartment so it didnt work for camp my son was a bit upset over that must of been the pressure change on the airplane

Position of light buttons takes some getting use to and the red light button requires more effort to switch on but these are very minor issues
