We only use it in a pinch, because usually when it goes off, it's from my mom simply sitting up or moving around in bed - not trying to escape. Lasted less than 6 months. Disappointed in the quality of the product.
The alarm is incredibly loud, which is good in terms of getting a caregiver's attention, but potentially very disturbing to a patient. Those with dementia or any nervous disorder exacerbated by disturbing loud noises.

We put it under her shoulder blades under the mattress pad and as soon as she starts to get up the alarm sounds and the caregiver who is in the same room with her can make it to her before her feet hit the floor
