It's the first book in a three-book series called the silo saga. This book was enthusiastically recommended to me. There are things in this book that, at first, made me want to slap this guy upside the head.
Hugh howey is a master craftsman. The best science fiction mixes in a healthy dose of humanity. As usual, howey's stories make me crave more!
The story captivates from the beginning. It also has a pretty unpredictable ending that is quite a shocker. Without giving away much of the plot, the storyline takes an unexpected turn.
Cons
Self-indulgent author's note re-enforces his belief that the main character's actions were just, even enlightened. He likes the idea of killing people as long as they are what he considers bad people.
The story is so comically unrealistic that i had no idea what the heck howey was talking about. The premise is implausible. Unlike wool and his other big best-sellers, this novel is not believeable nor imaginative sci-fi.
